Jimmy and Jesse

In this inaugural episode, we follow the story of two childhood friends who first met on the sunny beaches of South Padre Island in 1995. Despite coming from different High Schools, these two kids quickly hit it off and formed an unbreakable bond that would carry them through the ups and downs of life.

As Jimmy and Jesse grew up and moved into early adulthood, they faced mediocre challenges - navigating school, starting their careers, and ultimately starting families of their own. But no matter what obstacles they encountered, they always knew they could count on each other for support and guidance.

Now, years later, we catch up with Jimmy and Jesse as they reflect on the incredible journey they've been on together. With laughter, cringes, and plenty of nostalgia, they share stories of their favorite memories, the lessons they've learned, and the joys and struggles of parenting.

Through it all, one thing remains constant: the unbreakable bond between these two childhood friends, who continue to inspire and support each other through every twist and turn of life's journey. Tune in to this heartwarming episode to hear their incredible story of friendship and resilience. It's bussin.

In this groundbreaking new podcast, the hosts, Jimmy and Jesse, struggled to figure out today's podcasting technology. Also how they met on Spring Break 1995. This is. It is happening. Oh!

 U2

 0:14

Oh. Thought I thought there was an intro.

 U3

 0:16

This is just us recording all. That's all. The magic happens later, Jimmy. All. All that comes after. I don't know, dude. I've never been on this side of it. I'm always on this side just driving and, you know, listening to a podcast. Yeah.

 U1

 0:31

 I'm

 U2

 0:33

 never. Dude, are you

 U3

 0:34

nervous? I'm so nervous. You know what?

 U1

 0:36

You know, I'm really angry because there's literally. As I first hit this record button, my wife walks in and she's trying to, like, make me read her lips in sign language because I'm like, it took

 U3

 0:48

me. It's it took us. Well, how many weeks? When do we start talking about doing this? Easter in every good idea is a good idea until you act out it in a second. I hit record, my wife comes in, she's like, I'm gonna take a truck. I'm like, uh,

 U1

 1:01

 okay,

 U2

 1:02

but you know what? No, this is awesome because this is what the cast is about. Don't have that problem.

 U1

 1:09

 Oh my gosh, you got

 U3

 1:11

you got technical problems watching you do get ready for this was

 U1

 1:14

again watch like my parents trying to program their VCR. Uh, let's do intros. How about that? Let's start. Let's start it off. Right.

 U2

 1:22

Oh, guess we're good. 1s Oh, you want me to go first?

 U1

 1:26

Yeah, it's Jimmy and Jesse. Show your first.

 U2

 1:29

Well, you know what we should have done mean. I'm glad this is just the first show, because there's going to be hiccups. There's going to be bumps. There's going to be laughs. Hopefully Jesse doesn't cry.

 U3

 1:41

I mean, geez, if that isn't the worst thing you

 U2

 1:43

can do on camera with a man, it's probably cry. It's not. There's nothing wrong with it. I cried

 U3

 1:49

 watching Top Gun one

 U2

 1:51

and two, but I haven't watched number two. You caught it in the middle of it yesterday, and he was in a white uniform, and he was hugging his own chick.

 U1

 2:02

I don't even know where to start. Well I'll start.

 U3

 2:04

My name is Jesse. I go by fat salmon. But for all my friends out

 U1

 2:08

there, we'll go with Jesse. And maybe

 U3

 2:11

if you really get to know me and call me

 U1

 2:13

 tuco,

 U3

 2:14

I'm a married dad at three.

 U1

 2:16

 Whoa. I 1s don't

 U2

 2:18

even like that story, too, because

 U1

 2:20

 there's lots of stories. Does

 U2

 2:21

 girlfriend in high school?

 U3

 2:25

Oh, we do need to go back to the

 U1

 2:26

 way back time machine. So

 U3

 2:28

I've been married almost 25 years.

 U1

 2:32

I got three kids. They're about to be

 U3

 2:34

 24, 22, and

 U1

 2:36

then 13 cars stuck in there. No one thought I was all done. And

 U3

 2:43

I'm doing this so I get a chance to talk to my good buddy Jimmy, also known as Hearty Handshake. Go ahead, tell the crowd who all

 U1

 2:52

 about yourself. Jimmy. Wow.

 U2

 2:55

You're the only one that knows about Hardy handshake. You usually honestly around these parts. It was because, believe me, I'm not even close to that anymore. It's awesome. Awesome.

 U1

 3:06

This kind of like Frank the tank. It's like

 U2

 3:10

back in the day, guys. Yeah. It was. Well,

 U3

 3:13

it's funny because it rhymes, but,

 U2

 3:15

uh, my name's Jimmy. I'm doing this. I'm here with Jesse. I'm a 46 year old single dad. I was married four years, divorced six now, and have one kid. Aladdin is an only child on this side of the world at his mom's house. You guys have two sisters. So when he comes here, I'm like a mini fraternity house. Sometimes.

 U1

 3:41

Yeah. So, guys, guys, it's the guys. Bachelor pad. Yeah. My wife, she's. She's adamant that I have to get girl dads on the show. And I'm like, all right, they better be funny, though.

 U2

 3:55

You know what, though, as being a single dad, I am blessed that I got

 U1

 4:00

a boy because with him being an only child, there's a lot of downtime here, a lot of a long time. So he likes to have his friends stay over. You know, when it's my weekend and he's over you now, imagine if I was a single dad with a daughter.

 U2

 4:16

That poor girl would not be able to have any girls stay the night because of. Society nowadays, you know what I mean? Oh, we had one single dad. I can't let my girl go over there. That's what I think.

 U1

 4:31

 Oh, again.

 U3

 4:33

Literally never crossed my mind. And somebody just said, that is

 U1

 4:37

 your. Is your child

 U3

 4:38

chosen his gender? Yeah. And is that a thing?

 U2

 4:42

Well, if I don't start bringing

 U1

 4:43

more, my three boys have chosen their gender. So if I don't

 U2

 4:46

start bringing more women around them in the house, they might be a little not. There's anything wrong with that.

 U1

 4:53

Not that there's anything wrong with that. That's right. Hardy. Hardy. All right.

 U2

 4:58

Just so you know. So let's go.

 U1

 5:00

I'm gonna set a foundation here. I want to tell you need to get a chair.

 U3

 5:04

Very uncomfortable. No. All I hear is, like,

 U1

 5:07

you banging around. Is that your

 U2

 5:08

bag? No. It's this. No. And then the cord to the

 U3

 5:12

right. Yeah, mine. Mine's tight. So? Just so the audience knows.

 U2

 5:16

Oh, there we go. Can you still hear? Still

 U1

 5:18

hear you. You're good. Oh my God.

 U2

 5:22

No. Just because I'm adjusting, I'm apparently was. You sent me the harder one to put together. You did that on purpose.

 U3

 5:31

We need him for the ten on that one. I want to talk a long time about you in in deliveries and setting up technology. Before we get there, we got to set

 U1

 5:43

the foundation. And because all my friends here in. Just for those that don't know, yes, I'm in Illinois and you're in Michigan,

 U3

 5:51

and we should do like a Saint Louis versus Detroit or

 U1

 5:55

a guess, you know, I'll be living

 U3

 5:58

in Chicago for a while. So Chicago versus Detroit, it's going to be great.

 U1

 6:02

 But really, we

 U3

 6:04

 really live together

 U1

 6:06

 in Michigan when we're a

 U3

 6:07

 kids. For a short

 U1

 6:09

amount of time now, we've been friends at an almost 27 years. We really got to tell these folks how we met. Yeah,

 U2

 6:17

that's honestly probably where my logic change or the

 U3

 6:21

like when? Are you serious? Like changing

 U1

 6:23

moments even. Kid, you gotta keep the light here, man. We're just getting started. All

 U3

 6:26

right, so I'll say this. So here, there I was back

 U1

 6:30

 in time. 1995, April. And

 U3

 6:34

you know, we're down River Street rats. And this is

 U1

 6:37

Detroit. That's the thing there. Can't hate another road. Oh. Eight mile.

 U3

 6:43

 No, man. There's like stuff

 U1

 6:44

 below zero mile. You know,

 U3

 6:46

we're downriver. So you got a whole crew. Kids, high school kids.

 U1

 6:51

I went to Taylor Kennedy, Taylor Kennedy High School and went to Southgate Anderson. And

 U3

 6:56

somehow one of our besties shout out to my boy Pete, 1s his I think his mom was like a travel agent. Someone's mom was a travel agent on the side. And they needed they were planning a spring break

 U1

 7:08

 trip, you know, this

 U3

 7:09

1905. And they're like, they needed ten people. And they had their eight core group of friends, and they needed like two extra filler people that would pay to get in. Right?

 U1

 7:19

Am I wrong here? Now what

 U2

 7:21

what what I think what happened is two people back or couldn't get the money together or got in trouble at school, they needed two people to

 U1

 7:31

 fill in. You probably

 U2

 7:32

know that's how I got in. I know I was in like, I was like, bring the relief.

 U3

 7:37

Oh my God. So you're probably right. And we're going to have to we're going to have to reach back to that

 U1

 7:42

crew and find that out, man.

 U3

 7:44

Because now think we were sympathy invites I know I was. So I save up months washing dishes. You know you're working at Taco Bell and I pay this money, you know, and we're going

 U1

 7:56

to spring break. We're going to South Padre Island.

 U2

 7:58

 That Taco Bell.

 U1

 7:59

Yeah. And then I quit. See? Yeah. I didn't even all the time I

 U3

 8:04

 worked at the Hungarian Rhapsody

 U2

 8:06

 that I knew

 U3

 8:07

where I met my good boys. You know, Pete, Mike, who got me into your guys's crew to go

 U1

 8:12

 to the spring break, so.

 U3

 8:14

But, yeah, did a stint at

 U2

 8:15

Taco Bell, and it's disgusting as you think. So menu hadn't really changed. At least ingredients haven't. So just just the

 U1

 8:25

 food isn't. Yeah.

 U3

 8:26

 No. There's a

 U1

 8:28

lot of weird stuff. I mean those those beans you eat, they are like rat pellets that just, you know, mix with hot water. All right.

 U3

 8:34

So we get we get to going to the airport and

 U2

 8:37

this is like literally my second, you know, ride an airplane in my life. And you know, you got an 8 to 8

 U3

 8:43

core group of friends. They're all there. And then they they put you in me together

 U1

 8:48

in an airplane. And you see, see you're.

 U3

 8:50

And I don't know, I know like three of them,

 U1

 8:53

 you know and

 U2

 8:54

know that I'm like, sat with them at lunch. That was until this trip was really quiet. I was quiet, you know,

 U3

 9:04

didn't really do much. You're going to be

 U1

 9:05

perfect. Perfect for this podcast. You 1s know, you seem like that guy, but you sat down next to me and I hand

 U2

 9:13

to God, you look at me,

 U3

 9:14

no shit. And you're like, all these guys think they're

 U1

 9:16

going to be getting late every night. They're not getting crap. I was like, hey,

 U3

 9:20

man, I'm Jesse. 2s Yeah. And you're like, do you not remember any of

 U2

 9:27

this? How do you remember how how do you remember that?

 U3

 9:31

I don't know. It was a life changing

 U1

 9:33

 moment, you know.

 U2

 9:35

No, I mean, I'm just like, I don't like I told you before this, I don't remember much

 U3

 9:40

because it was hilarious how, like to forget the funny stuff.

 U2

 9:44

They're just a 1s must. Not if I was being funny, I guess.

 U1

 9:49

What? No, he's just funny. Dude, I don't know what first impressions of me. I don't know, you don't remember? And then really, on the trip, like we spent. 1s Like two days together.

 U2

 10:03

Because. Remember. Let me, let me through. Tennis court.

 U1

 10:07

Yeah. Because we were trying to hook up with the New York girls. All right, we'll get to that piece. I will say so. First we get down there and we, you know,

 U3

 10:15

 the South Padre Island.

 U1

 10:16

We take the, you know, the cab to the condos and

 U2

 10:21

we have a small claim to, well,

 U1

 10:24

we, we go into Dallas, Detroit to Dallas, DFW on a large aircraft here and then a puddle

 U3

 10:29

 jumper down

 U2

 10:31

to. And then we got on

 U3

 10:33

 that is a city.

 U1

 10:34

Yes. And then we get to Brownsville

 U3

 10:37

and then you got to take a

 U1

 10:38

cab. We put us all in a giant minivan, you know, essentially, and took us to their condo. And then we get there and then we had to pay $200, everybody for

 U3

 10:47

security deposit. Spoiler alert we didn't get that back. Don't think it,

 U1

 10:53

 you know, not even

 U2

 10:54

close. Not even close. I know, I know at one point there was a strong across

 U3

 11:00

 there is some there was

 U1

 11:01

some damage done. Yes. So the first thing we do first all is weird because it's like you're in high school, you know, and you talked about sitting in different tables, you know, like cafeteria, you know, talk to I didn't know this, but they have already like the

 U3

 11:15

the other guys had already set

 U1

 11:16

up who's staying with who they had a room for,

 U3

 11:19

for four dudes in a room for six

 U1

 11:21

dudes. And you know, it's like course, three bags. You're like, how the hell? Where are we going to

 U3

 11:25

sleep? You know, was like couches, floors, whatever. 1s Of

 U1

 11:28

course, you and me, we were we were kind of put in the the bigger room. But with the six guys, we weren't we weren't in the cool kids club. Right. And the first thing we do, we gotta go. We got.

 U2

 11:38

Oh. So let's see now, I would say the room that we had was the cool thing at the end. Yeah. Because we're the ones who got evicted. No, no we.

 U1

 11:47

Well, no. Not them. I'm just saying, like the people in that room I still talk to probably. I have a lot of that because let's say so in our room we had one Joe P you, me, I think it was

 U3

 12:01

no, P was no, P was in the cool kid. He was in the the group of four. But he

 U2

 12:06

was staying in our room the walls because we had. Yeah the five ours was the party pad where everybody would do sneak off to their. The other room is super clean and sleep there. But you know, they're taking shits in our room. That's how that works. Yeah, but

 U1

 12:20

 okay. Tell me

 U3

 12:22

talk to you about the first beer

 U1

 12:23

run. Were there 30 minutes? Well, we were let's see driving there. And the taxi driver told us about the store that we could go to, which was a circle K, which are finally made it here in Michigan. Only couple years? Yeah. In

 U3

 12:40

95, we were like, what the hell is a circle K? That's like 7-Eleven,

 U1

 12:43

 you know, to downriver. So

 U2

 12:44

this nice taxi driver was like, hey, you go to the circle K the guy behind the counter, his name is. We'll just go with Jose. You go up to him, you say, hey, Rosie, Pablo just gave us a ride and he would let you buy anything. You are a mobster. So our taxi cab was a minivan.

 U1

 13:08

Wealth picture 1995. The back. You know, the the Trump of that was pretty big. That thing was filled with,

 U2

 13:17

I think, 12 cases of just one light,

 U3

 13:21

ten of us and one minimum

 U2

 13:24

 of animals, which will

 U3

 13:25

lead to there was one. Oh my

 U1

 13:27

 gosh, I forgot about that

 U3

 13:29

part. So here we go everybody. Minimum, minimum buy in the start. Spring break 18 cans of Bud Light. And let's be honest man back. You know high school we're like dude this is the greatest beer ever.

 U1

 13:41

Anyways, what do we know? So you're right. We get there. And within the first day we we we met some girls like up there. We

 U3

 13:50

we we try to drink literally all 12 cases.

 U1

 13:55

 These are 18,

 U3

 13:55

24 packs. These aren't like six packs, like all in one day.

 U2

 13:59

Yeah. No. And then you look back

 U3

 14:01

at the pictures and you're like the dad and is like, man, I really want to just take all that out the recycling. And I'm looking at the pyramids of Giza, everyone trying to make their little giant. That was cool. Oh, make a beer

 U1

 14:14

 pyramid. Oh my goodness,

 U2

 14:16

the first beer beer pyramid I've ever made. At least not that I'm doing.

 U1

 14:20

Yeah. Good point. So. 1s I don't know if I want my kids listening to this podcast anyways.

 U3

 14:26

There were some. There were some girls that like above

 U1

 14:28

us that we we tried to like, party with and like one of the dudes. I don't know, man. If it was like Kevin or definitely not Joe. I'm trying to think of who I can get in trouble here. Well, let's. Without sharing last names, let's just start actually the one with us. So there was you and me. Yes, and there was.

 U3

 14:48

Pete and Ryan are the only guys I

 U1

 14:50

 knew going into this. So

 U3

 14:53

I was meeting seven strangers from a

 U1

 14:55

 rival high school. It's in.

 U3

 14:57

So when I met Kevin, Ronnie

 U1

 14:59

 Chadwick, Bonnie

 U3

 15:01

 seasoning.

 U2

 15:01

Hey, hey, that's a no last name. I don't I don't know, it's for the closest thing. Joe. Eric.

 U1

 15:10

 Um. The. Danny.

 U3

 15:12

Okay. Thank you. I didn't know his first name. I call him by his last

 U1

 15:15

 name. Uh, yeah.

 U2

 15:17

And then actually, there was two Danny's. So I have

 U3

 15:20

to use. That's why we use last names.

 U1

 15:22

 All right. Anyways, no worries.

 U2

 15:24

Well, well, the one Danny is not even around us anymore. Like, after high school, he took off. The other one is still around. So that's the important. Oh, hell, are we

 U3

 15:33

still friends? All right, so. So I want to say it was Ronnie that took a girl's camera. Remember? We didn't have cell

 U1

 15:38

 phones back then. No. And

 U3

 15:40

he started taking, like he'd go back, pretend to go to the bathroom. And there was cameras like the, you know, these disposable cameras or whatnot, and think he was taking pictures of his ass and just put the camera back. And then they were taking, like, empty beer cans and, like, toss him. We were like, eight

 U1

 15:57

 stories up. Yeah.

 U3

 15:59

And that was the start of us throwing beer cans from the

 U1

 16:02

balcony into the pool area, the lobby, all that it was, you know, and water,

 U3

 16:08

water balloons. We thought that was hilarious. Well, and you want to know how we got caught? We're gonna get to that. We're

 U1

 16:15

gonna get to that. So anyways,

 U3

 16:17

 so it was weird trying

 U1

 16:18

 to, you know, no

 U3

 16:19

supervision. You're like, oh my gosh, what are

 U1

 16:21

we going to do? And then first time

 U3

 16:22

alone. Yeah. Then, you know, you and I, we split off from the, the massive, you know,

 U1

 16:28

group because there's nothing, you know, more approachable than ten high

 U3

 16:31

school boys walking around and saying, hey, let's go to the beach. Anyway, so you and I met some girls from

 U1

 16:37

 New York, and

 U3

 16:38

of course, you know, had a high school girlfriend

 U1

 16:40

at sound like I'm not messing around. Trying to. And these

 U3

 16:44

girls were like, oh yeah, we got we got boyfriends

 U1

 16:47

too. But, you know, we were the nice guy. So we, we just end up hanging out with these, these girls for, for

 U3

 16:53

basically two days and then got bored of them like,

 U1

 16:55

all right, we're going to go off and back do other stuff than that. Okay. So when we're hanging out in their room, which was not that close to ours like it was, it was a little bit of a walk to get to them. I do remember that was a different

 U3

 17:11

 building, same complex, different building.

 U2

 17:14

Dude, they made this grilled cheese sandwich.

 U1

 17:18

The reader was out. It was it was so good. And I don't know, it was because I was in high school

 U3

 17:24

 dehydrated and hung over

 U2

 17:27

whatever. But this sandwich was so

 U1

 17:30

 good. I

 U2

 17:31

came home and tried to make that same sandwich. Not even close.

 U1

 17:37

It doesn't hit. It doesn't hit the same man. I was like, oh, these girls. I was like, I want you to be my, my, my team. Anyways, these like they're they're playing tapes for us or their boyfriend's like doing love raps for them. And I'm like, was like, you're dating rappers and they're like, I wonder.

 U2

 17:55

You ever wonder if any of their boyfriends that's our are on Jersey shore now? Because

 U3

 18:01

those are the kind of dudes they know. That's whatever dude.

 U2

 18:03

 So yeah,

 U1

 18:05

that's oh my gosh. Yeah. They're you know GTL for life, man. And we learned about that in 95. Like I said I've

 U3

 18:13

never left Detroit. This is like a foreign planet to me. I've seen all this stuff. I will say this though, man. After we got back, kind of,

 U1

 18:20

you know, started I started 1s candle

 U3

 18:23

is a weird night, like hotels. So there was no, like, maid service, right? So after 2 or 3 days, I go

 U1

 18:30

back up to the room and hang out and

 U3

 18:32

 we're out of toilet paper

 U1

 18:34

 and some

 U3

 18:35

jabroni was like wiping his his ass with a towel and then tied in the shitty towel

 U1

 18:41

 like, oh no. Yeah,

 U3

 18:44

I feel like it's like, oh, it's like shit. He was rooming 1s and I'm like, felt. That's my first moment, Jimmy,

 U1

 18:52

when I felt like, I'm going to be a dad. I went

 U3

 18:55

to a grocery store and got a bunch of cans of

 U1

 18:57

ravioli and food. I'm making it, you know,

 U3

 18:59

everybody else is blowing all their money on, like,

 U1

 19:01

dune buggies. You're the only one think that food

 U2

 19:05

 and everybody ate your

 U3

 19:07

thing like, I'm. I'm the kid from Southgate. It's like. Like a

 U1

 19:11

 dad. I don't know, man.

 U3

 19:13

 Will say it was.

 U1

 19:16

Wish it would have ended out in Better

 U3

 19:17

Know because by the time the last, the last night we were there,

 U1

 19:22

 we had again

 U3

 19:24

our rooms, the party room, you know. But the other room, all these jabroni just sneak off to the past, you know, pass out whatnot. 1s They got caught basically

 U1

 19:34

 throwing like a can of

 U3

 19:36

beer at an empty, full can

 U1

 19:37

of beer down like a, you know, it was a missile. Almost hit some people in the hot tub. So security was they'd been looking to figure out which room all week came in. They like, they hold up the bag of water

 U3

 19:50

balloons and they're like, we got them, boys.

 U1

 19:52

This is the room. Like there's no match up forensically with the water balloons thrown from the balcony.

 U3

 19:58

 A floors up all week.

 U1

 20:00

 Um, I was like, guess

 U3

 20:02

they kicked us out. I was like, I'm packing up. We're all packing up. And, you know,

 U1

 20:05

these security guards are smelling like the shitty towels behind the dresser,

 U3

 20:09

and they're like, what the hell?

 U2

 20:10

 After that? So

 U1

 20:12

we we got kicked out. Well, in our room, we always lie. The windows unlocked. We were like, hey, he just come out in. 1s Help yourself. I mean, we we would we would come back from the bar or hanging out at the beach and we would come in and on our pizza boxes were rule numbers and lipstick. A candle two when you get back. I mean, they would always leave little notes. But what I was getting to is so the security guards come up, they kick us all out, right? Well, us being high school kids thinking we're ninjas. So we sneak back into the room through that open window and

 U3

 21:00

we're like, yeah, we got these mothers. Well, one of the other kids that was with us, we won't say his name, but he's no longer actually around us. He get caught. Yeah, he got caught and he ran in all of us. Oh, dude.

 U2

 21:15

So then we all got kicked out.

 U1

 21:18

 So yeah. So

 U3

 21:20

I, I don't, I don't know, I remember like I remember being real mad in Danny because think he was the one that actually threw the beer can. And then he was even in our room. He went back to his room and went to sleep and was in here and stuck at the bus stop with my suitcase. And I'm thinking, I'm deciding

 U1

 21:36

myself. I'm like, man, I want to throw hands. I'm so mad. He was the one. He told me later, he was coming up. He goes, and then new kid from South Gate says, shit, we're

 U3

 21:45

going, we're going to town. He was like, getting ready,

 U1

 21:47

man, you out? Did you like me at all? Yeah, and I love the guy now, man. He's probably fine. Look back at it. It was funny. Yeah. So

 U3

 21:57

the next I still got picture of us all miserable out there freezing and,

 U1

 22:01

 you know, and the the

 U2

 22:02

 sea tcby was security.

 U1

 22:05

So then we had. Yeah. Then we had to go back up to the hotel to meet our shuttle to the airport, and security's like, we're getting you for

 U3

 22:12

trespassing. What are you doing here? And you're like, we're sorry, bro. Our shuttles

 U1

 22:15

picking us up here to go to the airport. Is it cool? He's like, yeah,

 U2

 22:18

so mean. At least it was the last night we got kicked out. We got probably been called this night, uh, in South Padre Island because

 U3

 22:27

let's talk about lessons learned there,

 U1

 22:28

man, from that trip. Just lessons learned. Number one, I'm

 U3

 22:33

going to tell you right now, guys are disgusting. Girls are not. Because we also here's another side story. I took all these guys that barely knew

 U1

 22:41

 to try to meet

 U3

 22:42

some girls that were next door at the Radisson that went to my high school. It was all the leaders and popular girls,

 U1

 22:48

and we rolled in just looking like. We're

 U3

 22:51

 disgusting anyways.

 U2

 22:54

Couldn't be so. They made comment. This is why. Is that why you brought this up? No. Here's why they like Jesse. Who are those disgusting looking guys? Is this. Is this one? The story is going.

 U3

 23:06

Maybe. Listen, man, I'm. I'm killing life. Ain't got no. I ain't got no hang ups. What? My what the point

 U1

 23:13

 was, was

 U3

 23:16

guys are disgusting and girls are not, because every girls room we went

 U1

 23:19

to, it smelled like potpourri, man. It was like everything was all made up and stuff. I'm like, couldn't believe it. But then again, we got giant

 U3

 23:28

beer cans, pyramids, shitty towels. Like, here's another

 U1

 23:33

thing. Here's another lesson learn, 1s uh, if

 U3

 23:37

 you weigh £130

 U1

 23:38

and it wasn't me, it was another one of our friends.

 U3

 23:40

You cannot drink physically. Drank a fifth

 U2

 23:43

of Jack in 15 minutes and not nearly die. Um. He was close,

 U1

 23:49

 so poor Kevin thought

 U3

 23:51

it'd be cool to drink a

 U1

 23:52

fifth of Jack. Um. And so when the

 U3

 23:55

cops came up in the ambulance came the taking the hospital 30 miles to Brown's. Brownsville. Brownstown. No.

 U1

 24:02

 Uh, these Brownsville, the.

 U3

 24:05

He he got like a $1,500 medical

 U1

 24:08

bill that he had explained to his

 U3

 24:10

parents when he got home, and they kept him in a like, detox, like overnight. He said he kept all the hospital patients out because of his

 U1

 24:17

singing and stuff. I'm like, oh, poor Kevin. And so when he

 U3

 24:20

came, of course, the cops took all our beer too. We're like, thanks for the donation. These cops probably rolled all week, filled their stock, their beer fridges

 U1

 24:28

for a year, and the amount of conservation

 U2

 24:32

 units can't do that nowadays.

 U3

 24:34

So yeah. So I've learned a lesson there. I'm like, I will never drink liquor

 U1

 24:38

after what I've watched him go through I mean don't. Oh my gosh.

 U3

 24:42

 Number three, let's

 U1

 24:43

 say sometimes it's better

 U3

 24:45

to get kicked out of a hotel than be arrested and feel like, you know, we have to talk about us getting kicked out of hotels.

 U1

 24:51

You know, some later episodes. I'm just saying, um, the other

 U3

 24:55

piece, I would say this, this

 U1

 24:57

is the most important. I made lifelong friends that are essentially low maintenance

 U3

 25:03

of all those ten guys. Or guess nine. I'm number ten if you count it. I could probably go and just call up and be like, hey man, let's

 U1

 25:11

go hang out. You'd be like, all right, man. It's been, what,

 U3

 25:13

28 years? You know, 20 years last month.

 U1

 25:16

I mean, not all of them. I'm gonna go want to hang out with, but I mean, could

 U2

 25:21

well, like I say, out of those nine, I could call out a sub. That's not

 U3

 25:27

bad. And going into that trip, you didn't know much, right? No.

 U2

 25:30

 And about them and for

 U1

 25:32

we were we were fillings. Weird. We're at a scrimmage team. Yeah.

 U2

 25:36

But you know what? We want 1s everybody to do. It mean 1s we won.

 U3

 25:43

We just throw it out. Cliches like we had more fun than you. Ha ha. Anyways, they just needed us. 2s They needed us for the group discount. You're like, you know, your cell phone family plan. You're like, God, you want to put

 U2

 25:55

him on it. You know what? Let me ask you this though. So this is a podcast and it's pretty much dad versus debt. That vacation as a parent now

 U1

 26:07

 would you?

 U2

 26:09

Lecture, kid, because we were there for like 13. It was 17. It was a normal spring, but it was doing. It was a long day's

 U3

 26:20

high schools, high school spring breaks were like, you

 U1

 26:22

know, they used to do like two weeks pregnant.

 U3

 26:24

Maybe it was ten. It was Saturday. That was we

 U2

 26:27

were the town. You know what? So

 U1

 26:29

yeah, I'll tell you this. When my kids were getting ready for spring break, I went with them. But it was different circumstances. I was

 U3

 26:38

 I was living overseas

 U1

 26:39

and I took them to Guam. So they weren't gonna go to. What

 U3

 26:44

would I send up my 17 year old kids off to Cancun? Well,

 U2

 26:48

that's the news. I'm like, no, no,

 U1

 26:50

no, not happening. Not doing it along. Like

 U3

 26:54

maybe Cedar Point. I don't know, man. I don't know what you guys do about US

 U1

 26:58

soil. No, I'm not doing it. I'm not letting them. I'm not letting them. My kid asked me. I'm like, no, man. I'm the way to 18 Nikki overseas. And

 U3

 27:05

maybe that's the difference because we're Gen X

 U2

 27:06

and. No, I'm just saying, like. Like you

 U3

 27:09

think I don't know, there's there's no way. Maybe if you raise them right, you have make smart decisions.

 U1

 27:15

Um. It depends. God, that's a crappy answer, right? Depends.

 U2

 27:20

Well, I mean, the good news is you got four years

 U1

 27:23

to to think about, you know,

 U2

 27:26

by then, and I mean, my kid's

 U3

 27:28

idea is spring break is, you know, a 72 hour gaming session in the basement. Like, he doesn't care about Haunted Beach. Well,

 U1

 27:34

 they

 U2

 27:36

all a lot happened in four years. At 13, I wasn't thinking about girls in bikinis and spring break. Young man. Making me or about

 U3

 27:45

 your choosing or just

 U2

 27:46

saying, like was just one of your opinion on if, you know, do you think our parents were crazy or was it just a different

 U3

 27:53

time? Different time? Yeah. You know what happened that week. Yeah.

 U1

 27:57

 The big national. Yeah.

 U3

 27:58

 That was thing that was

 U1

 28:00

 a Oklahoma City bombing. Yeah.

 U3

 28:02

And it was like two. Yes. Two days later I'm like,

 U1

 28:05

didn't know what people are talking

 U3

 28:06

 about. That's that's the that's where

 U1

 28:08

I was in life. Like we didn't watch news or cared. Right.

 U3

 28:11

No news. And I want to say that we had the best like winning season it that season two. We knew nothing about that. Someone brought a damn Genesis with us to remember that. Oh, I don't remember that.

 U2

 28:25

Oh, you don't remember the gaming system? I got a picture, actually. Oh, yeah. Video game. Who brought that? I think Joel brought that

 U3

 28:34

 because we play NHL

 U1

 28:35

 hockey like NHL hockey.

 U3

 28:38

94, 95. That was like 94 NHL hockey 94 is like literally the best sports game. I'll fight you over that. Like. Listen, don't get me started on, on,

 U1

 28:50

 on video games because,

 U2

 28:52

well, we'll get to hobbies and later episodes.

 U1

 28:55

 Yeah. Oh my gosh. But

 U3

 28:57

yeah, you're right. Spring break. So that's how we met. And somehow, through all miracles, we stayed friends over this year. Because you know what?

 U1

 29:06

I after that spring break trip, I left Michigan

 U3

 29:10

 like six weeks later.

 U1

 29:12

And I've never I've never moved

 U3

 29:13

 back. I visited

 U1

 29:15

literally Michigan six times in 28 years. Is that that's wild. And and we're

 U2

 29:20

still friends. I really don't know if it's because a baseball, because honestly, if there is no baseball, I don't think we would have indicated as much as we do now. It was just the owner text. I'm not good at it. Even mean I prompt you more of this this month than I have two friends who stood up in their weddings, who I would call in a jam when I'm here, like I'm horrible at texting and falling out of

 U1

 29:51

 the well. Yeah, well,

 U3

 29:54

you know what? I'll wrap. I'm going to wrap this one up because I want to do the next episode and let's talk about how our paths diverse

 U1

 30:02

 and how and maybe

 U3

 30:04

why we're the parents from today.

 U2

 30:06

I think that's the purpose of this podcast, this, you know, this it's kind of a test session. Guys, don't judge us on this one. It's

 U1

 30:15

just one. And like I said, every every idea is a good idea until you act on it. But you

 U3

 30:18

know, me meeting up with you at

 U1

 30:21

 Easter, you're like, hey,

 U3

 30:23

dude, I'm gonna do a podcast. I'm like,

 U1

 30:25

 whatever, man, all right?

 U3

 30:27

But I feel like I'm doing all this work. What did you get? What you do to me here, man,

 U2

 30:31

that was on you, dude like that. And so I didn't put you to work like, it was just. That was drunk. And. Jimmy. Jimmy, don't get drunk a lot. So I was sober

 U1

 30:41

my best. But but you took and you ran with it, like when you called me up and like, hey, blah. I'm like, shit, dude, I didn't know, like, well, I don't know. Well,

 U2

 30:53

might have just been joking, but now here we are. It's a reality and we're going to run with it, dude. And we are going

 U3

 30:58

to you know, what was really shocking was, you know, a lot of times when

 U1

 31:02

you call me, I got you on speakerphone, you know, my wife's listening in. Just open kimono. You know, 1s you make her laugh so much

 U3

 31:13

 how excited you are about

 U1

 31:15

all this. And I'm like, from my point of view,

 U3

 31:18

I'm like, I'm just doing this for fun so I could talk to my buddy.

 U1

 31:22

Don't want. 2s Wait till I started telling people about all the mistakes I made as a dad. Oh my gosh, my kids. Listen. Hold on. What are your. Are your kids healthy mentally?

 U2

 31:37

Are they healthy? 1s Yeah, man. Okay.

 U3

 31:41

 By my standards, yes.

 U2

 31:43

Have they made good life decisions? For the most part, that is,

 U1

 31:47

that is a depends. Depends. They could get mad at me

 U2

 31:52

because in their mind, they'd probably. Yeah, man. I'm

 U3

 31:55

made great life decisions. And I'm

 U1

 31:56

like, you have made horrible, poor choices.

 U2

 31:59

What I'm getting at here is you didn't make a mistake. If you made a mistake, they would be in a different

 U1

 32:06

 path. Well,

 U2

 32:08

in life as of right now. Todd. Guess time with time will tell. Time will tell. Time will tell. My

 U3

 32:14

Maya put it this way. Asked my kids.

 U1

 32:17

 The the older ones

 U3

 32:19

was like, hey, I need a pretty much. I need a list of

 U1

 32:22

off off the book like stories that are off limits. Yeah. I

mean, and I was like, can I talk? Can I talk about x, y or Z? And they're like. And what kids like. Absolutely. No. What you think is hilarious stories was very traumatizing for me. Like, all right. So I'm like no respect that.

 U2

 32:37

And and you just and you just found

 U1

 32:40

 it. Oh yeah.

 U2

 32:41

 Like you don't know that.

 U1

 32:43

Well, you know, at the time anyway, it's the in the

 U3

 32:46

other kids like, hey, I don't want you to talk about this,

 U1

 32:49

but you can talk about this. I'm like, cool. And then my youngest,

 U3

 32:53

 the 13 year old,

 U1

 32:54

he doesn't know what podcast is, so he's like whatever. Anyways. Oh,

 U2

 32:57

really? He doesn't know? Are you being

 U1

 33:00

serious? No, man. Here's. So here's another thing. He my wife is like, why do you put so much energy into trying to talk about single dad and married dad is like, your son wants to become a YouTuber and a streamer was good for him and he should learn how to do that. Then

 U3

 33:17

says no, you get to help

 U1

 33:19

 them. I'm like,

 U3

 33:20

oh man, he's good. So he's got his older brothers helping them

 U1

 33:23

 and but she's telling me,

 U3

 33:27

hey, if he's not going to do sports

 U1

 33:28

and stuff, you need to go help them do that. That could be your thing together. And I'm like, I like playing video games. I don't like watching YouTube of other people playing video games. And how do you think I'm going to feel about watching my kid

 U3

 33:43

 stream like,

 U1

 33:44

video games? Just oh my gosh, I'm like, so guess what the secret to do at

 U2

 33:50

all you have to do is subscribe to this channel when needed. Art. You should always be interested. Yeah, there you go

 U1

 33:57

was I was supportive in spirit. So guess what? Because I've been

 U3

 34:01

married almost 25 years, I just do whatever my

 U1

 34:03

wife says and I'm going to have to go help set up his. Man was it Twitch now streaming.

 U2

 34:10

Yeah. Well, I was going to talk to you about that, didn't you? Should we get on the twitch down the line? You know what kind of feel like do is feel like. Don't know if you watch something on you watch Seinfeld. Know you don't. Okay.

 U3

 34:23

Don't watch TV hardly at all,

 U2

 34:25

 but. Well, I'm just saying,

 U3

 34:26

unless it's in a 15 second clip on TikTok on my way to the airport, it's really sad feeling watching.

 U2

 34:32

Just kind of feel like right now we're Jerry and George and they're trying to do a pilot for NBC.

 U1

 34:40

Let's show that on that thing. 3s Let me go. Let me be the first to go out. Apologize to anybody listening to this. You're

 U3

 34:48

 like, oh, man, I'm gonna

 U1

 34:49

 tune in. I'm gonna

 U3

 34:51

tune in to the get some real life dad advice. And then we we

 U1

 34:55

find out that, hey, these guys, like, reminiscing about poopy towels

 U3

 35:02

behind the dresser. I'm like, yeah, I'll tell you what. Let's let's give a teaser. We'll put a pin on this one. A teaser for episode two, how our past diverse in the 90s and then see, see how guess I became dead

 U1

 35:19

 fast as hell. Oh,

 U2

 35:21

whoa. And we'll see how our 20s were different as one of us was becoming a dad, and one of us was just being my daddy. I'm actually glad we didn't title this show in daddy's hour. That was you that.

 U1

 35:40

Yeah, it was, it was. It was a cheaper domain name, believe it or not. I'm just saying.

 U2

 35:45

 Just call me daddy.

 U3

 35:47

Think I might want to. Until next time. Jimmy Johnson, we're dads. Could be dead. Jimmy's
